Many organisations - including us - campaigned throughout 2021-22 for the release of refugees locked inside Melbourne’s Park Hotel. Most tactics focussed on political and moral pressure. But we figured commercial pressure might also help.

Since Wordle was taking the world by storm and inspiring imitators, we thought we’d get in on the act.

Introducing Parkle! Our version of the game highlighted how a series of prominent Victorian hotels are owned by the same people profiting from the Park.

It encouraged the public to make more informed choices about where they spend their travel dollars, to create incentive for the Park Hotel’s owner Pelligra to lobby its government partners to end hotel detention.
